Indulging in Local Breweries and Wineries

Unwind after a day of adventure by visiting one of the many local breweries or wineries in the High Country. Sample craft beers, sip on award-winning wines, and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of these charming establishments. Our favorite is Linville Winery, however the most amazing experience is chartering transportation and heading down the mountain to Yadkin Vally and tasting as many varieties of local wines as you can.

Brewery wise, Booneshine Brewery is one of our favorites along with Beech Mountain Brewery. Views are spectacular from 5506! Sip on Beech Mountain Brewery's seasonal brews and enjoy the scenery as mountain bikers pass you by! Lost Province is also a favorite of our in Boone.

Experiencing Thrilling Outdoor Adventures

For adrenaline junkies, the High Country offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including zip-lining, whitewater rafting, and rock climbing. Get your heart racing and make unforgettable memories in the great outdoors. We love working with Hawksnest for Ziplines. For chartering rafting, hiking, tubing, and even kayaking and for the true adventures caving, we recommend High Mountain Expeditions. Be sure to contact these companies and book prior to your arrival as space is limited during popular holiday weeks during Spring and Summer Months. https://highmountainexpeditions.com/

Exploring Historic Sites and Museums

Dive into the rich history of the High Country by visiting historic sites, museums, and cultural attractions. Learn about the region's past and gain a deeper appreciation for the people and events that have shaped this unique area.

The Turchin Center is part of Appalachian State University and has seven art galleries of changing artworks. The galleries feature contemporary art from local, regional, national and international.

The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum is a place for every family's history buff. It's a favorite of my first son.

Honerable mention goes to the original Mass General store which is located in Valle Crucis. It's a museum in and of itself. Our family loves visiting and taking a step back in time. They of course sell tons of great gear for all of your activities and of course wardrobe, but also are famous for candy of yesterday and bottles of your favorite Blue Ridge Sodas and Cookies.

Spring in North Carolina's High Country is a time of renewal and rejuvenation, offering endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. Whether you're seeking tranquility in nature or excitement in outdoor activities, this charming region has something for everyone to enjoy.
